Cricket News:
On Wednesday, 35 girls crossed the road to Moat Lane to play a friendly cricket match against Kent College Junior School. The players were split into 4 teams and although we lost 3-1, we played well and developed our skills as the games progressed. After the first games, we muddled the schools into mixed batting pairs with Kent College to play again. A very enjoyable afternoon finished with a traditional picnic. Thank you to Kent College for hosting the match and to the adult helpers for making this happen. Well played girls.
On Thursday, 4 Blean mixed Cricket teams played an all-day tournament at Polo Farm against the Canterbury Schools. 14 teams attended from 10 schools. Our teams played well throughout the day, with our first team narrowly losing to Windcheap in a very tense final. The 33 Blean pupils were a credit to the school throughout the day and Miss Irons was very proud when their sporting behaviour was mentioned during the medal ceremony. Thank you to all the players and to the parents who organised transport and supported the teams. Good luck to the Girls’ teams who play next Tuesday.
Sporting Statistics:
We have had a very successful sporting year so far and Miss Irons is busy collating data for our sports award application. Here are just a few statistics for you:
We have entered 27 different events in 14 different sports, sending 66 teams with 498 team places. We have qualified for 5 county finals where our teams will represent the Canterbury Area against the other 15 areas of Kent. These are: Year 5/6 Handball (12th June), Year 3/4 Gym (18th June), Year 2 Agility and Y3/4 Indoor Athletics (both 20th June) and Year 5/6 Netball (2nd July). We wish the teams well as they prepare for these events. Thank you to all the parents and players who have helped to make these events happen. Finally, we can’t forget that after the up-coming Sports Days for KS1 and KS2, we will end our sporting year with 3 more teams entering a Rounders tournament.

We run a variety of in-school competitions each year and as the children progress through the school they are given opportunities to represent the school at local and county events.
Please read the documents below to see how we have used our Sport funding to develop P.E. and Sport in the school.
