Blean Primary School

Learning and Development training Programme –terms 1 and 2 2016

At Blean Primary School we continue to provide CPD via the Learning and Development Centre which will host a wide variety of training, workshops, network opportunities and community learning throughout the autumn term 2016 and beyond. Our training incorporates the principles from the DfE ‘Standard for teachers’ professional development’ and the premise that ‘Effective professional development should be seen as a key driver not only of staff development, but also of recruitment, retention, well-being, and school improvement. ‘

This autumn we welcome back Nina Birch, London based Literacy Consultant, to work with us here at Blean and our network of schools. We continue to use her approaches which have revolutionised the way we teach writing. She will be delivering a number of units for specific year groups which are detailed below.

Additionally, we will be focusing on Reading through training from Jane Fisher, who many of you will know well. This will focus on learning from Key Stage 1 and 2 National tests, how to build skills throughout each year group and reading speed and stamina. Blean have developed a Reading Progression document from R-6 which will be shared on the day. This session is followed up with a ‘Teach-Meet’ so that participants can share how they have developed Reading in their own schools, used the Reading progression document or to share other successes / requests for further training. Jane will also be running her tried and tested and excellent training for Teaching Assistants.

We also welcome back Jacqueline Marshall who delivered, what many delegates described as ‘extremely effective’, training at Blean in the summer term. This season she is running training courses for those that are new to subject leadership and management and developing experienced leaders.

Please use the booking form attached and places are limited, so if you would like to book places please could you do it as soon as possible.

Rachael Foster, Deputy Headteacher
